We provide functional dentistry for families and individuals that is always focused first on meeting your overall dental and health needs. We are not here to “sell” you dentistry and Dr. Phillip always presents a range of treatment options that balance conservative treatment with looking at the “big picture” to ensure that minor problems don’t turn into more costly ones.

Insurance and Payment
Talking about financial issues is never as fun as talking about creating and maintaining beautiful smiles, but we always strive to be open and honest with our patients about everything we do, and that necessarily includes topics like insurance and payments.
We are a fee-for-service practice, meaning that our fees are based on the cost of time and materials required for services provided, rather than having the parameters of care dictated by insurance companies. Dr. Phillip feels strongly that doctors, not insurance companies, are best at working with patients to determine the proper course of treatment for each individual situation .
Insurance
We are often asked if we accept dental insurance. The short answer is, yes! The longer answer is that some insurance plans require doctors to enter into a contract with insurance companies to accept as full payment whatever fees are set by the insurance company. These mandated fees, in turn, effectively limit the amount of time doctors can spend with patients and can significantly compromise the range of materials and treatment options available, leading to a level of care we believe is inconsistent with our philosophy of practice and the needs and wishes of most of our patients. Although Dr. Phillip is generally considered “out of network” in such plans, there is usually only a nominal difference in fees. We have many patients with these plans who come to our office because of the quality of materials our office uses and the excellent care our team provides.
As part of our commitment to outstanding patient care, we are happy to help our patients maximize their dental insurance benefits, and we can submit insurance claims on behalf of our patients to virtually all major insurance companies, including, but not limited, to those listed below.
For those seeking to use insurance benefits, we are happy to help check with your insurance company regarding the estimated coverage and benefits available prior to beginning treatment so that you can make an informed decision regarding your heath and dental care.
Payment
While we make every effort to get an accurate estimate of coverage and to submit all required documentation for a claim on behalf of our patients, it is our policy to collect from each patient or guarantor the balance, if any, for fees beyond the estimated insurance coverage at the time of service. In the event that insurance pays more than the estimate (and, yes, it does occasionally happen!), we will gladly refund the over-payment or apply the credit to a future service, at your discretion.
Secondary Insurance
If you have coverage with both a primary and secondary insurance carrier, you may be able to obtain additional reimbursement from your secondary insurance for any balance of fees not covered by the primary carrier. While we do not file claims with secondary carriers, we are happy to provide patients with the necessary information to file directly, including any necessary documentation regarding the diagnosis and treatment.
